Thanks Torralba! Every time I start thinking of selling the A99 and most of my A-mount glass to switch over to the FE mount system I remember that the A99 is a wonderful system. With the right lenses(Zeiss) you can produce world class images. I'm sure the day will come when I jump full boar into the small mirrorless world but for now I'll keep the A99 awhile longer.

I was a bit skeptical of the RX1 at first but after using it in challenging conditions like Everest I am convinced of its capabilities. Choosing between my D800e or Leica M (both with Zeiss glass) I would pack the Sony RX1 first next time in the Himalayas !

Dalth500, yes, I do live in Oregon. I live in eastern Oregon and was on a photo weekend with a group from Oregon City. We found our way into Wasco along some of the backroads. This was shot in the afternoon and was in the shade, exactly as you described. In the unprocessed image, the colors are quite subtle. I put it through a single image HDR processing (not too heavy handed) and then worked on individual colors to bring them out. Thanks for your compliments on this shot - I really appreciate it, especially from someone who is familiar with the exact location! You must know a lot of great places to shoot around the area. There are some really cool old buildings for sure.

You must live here in Oregon - nice image of this old sign. It is hard to develop that kind of contrast and color saturation due to its easterly facing location. Either its blown out by the direct sun or then it falls into full shade. I have been shooting up in that area since I was 14 years old !! Thanks for posting!!

With any gear there are always trade offer and I have to agree with the you on the Leica sensor - it is unusually noisy in low light situations that call for long exposures. Frankly I am disappointed with this limitation along with the inability of the M to accommodate exposures longer than 30seconds - perhaps the Leica designers realized the sensor's limitation set the firmware to limit time exposures. Thank you for the comments regarding the noise levels in low-light exposures.
