Have your say on home page layout

By Jt

I am trying to make the home page more interesting and attractive to new users in order to draw people to the site. I am thinking of a new home page layout with a different look which looks a bit more busy. I have applied the changes here: http://www.sonyalphaimages.com/ so you can see what it would look like. Please have a look at your convenience and cast your vote or opine on this thread.

Let me know your thoughts and if you like that layout.

I prefer the present look to the busier one. Some improvements to the present web page might be to improve the search ability for photographs. For example, if looking under a specific lens, maybe there could be an option on the page to show thumbnails so that more images could be seen at once. Also, when looking under a specific photographer, more sorting options would be nice, such as perhaps being able to choose a starting letter of the alphabet or maybe the ability to search for a name. In general, improved searches on the photos would be nice.

The present site has a nice look right now in my opinion.

Most of these options are there now. If you click on a lens name under neath a photo, you will get thumbnails of photos taken with that lens. If you are viewing thumbnails and you click on icon http://zeissimages.com/images/filmstrip.png near the top you will see medium sized photos of the thumbnail set.

If you click on Member List, you will see all the photographers. You can clickon the letters on the left side to search by names starting with those letters or you can type in a partial name. You can then click on the user avatar and see his or her photos as thumb nails.

Lastly, if you click on the Advanced Search, you can combine search criteria to produce complex queries with what you seek.

Thanks for the information on navigating images using various filters. I am new to the site, so have not become all that adept at navigating it yet. The information that you provided is very helpful.

By the way - the photos that people are posting here are incredible and frankly some of them are among the very best that I have seen. It is a real pleasure to view the work of such talented people.

It is already attractive. Maybe better forum. Something like FM style but unique :)

Please, do change the small icon at the address bar that shows the Zeiss logo instead of Alpha.
