Small family farms still prosper in the Fraser Valley
The Old Yale Road built in 1874 was the first true east-west road through the Sumas and Vedder Mountain areas, connecting to communities on the south side of the Fraser River.
In the Sunnyside acres forest I found a large stray granite boulder. Where did it come from? I haven't seen another here before. The vine mirrored blue from the granite, or was it the other way round? Makes a great black & white image, but the color has something to say. No color enhancement and minimal post processing.
Highway 101 near Boiler Bay, OR - torrential rain and winds up to 80 mph - It was weather and driving conditions I had never seen before, but fortunate that I didn't know how bad it really was. The wild waves made even crazier by the wind, were crashing up onto the highway at this point.
They tell me it was stormy at home while we were gone, but I beg to differ!!
All the elements of a marriage, both good and bad :~)
This grove is the largest of its kind north of the 49th parallel and has been recognized as a significant natural heritage site in Canada.
Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver, BC - sadly it is not fall colour, but mountain pine beetles that are slowly destroying this grand old tree, giving it this surreal tone - Best viewed in zoom mode
The leaves and grass are in a low lying fen/swamp with a lightly frozen inch or 2 of water underneath. I spent an hour or so trying to get some patterns and testing the lens at F16. I also tested my new waterproof shoes - everytime I stepped I sunk a little into the water. Happily all was well.
The water was pushed through this narrow channel and then churned so vehemently, that it created a foamy substance which blew up onto the surrounding hillside like a child blowing bubbles. The rocks may be forbidding, but they are ruled by the ocean.
Nocturne, in camera, multiple exposure
This reminded me of all the unfortunates that were tossed about and got lost or crashed in such a wild storm.
Nye Beach, Oregon
Ucluelet, British Columbia
She was dressed so daintily and yet when a crab was captured, she snatched it with no hesitation. Best viewed in full zoom :~)
The light and clouds this summer have just been a visual dream for the west coast this year. This image, for me, expresses my joy of light and freedom of movement
