Tithe Barn at Great Coxwell, Oxfordshire

Notes

A vast stone structure built in the 13th century by the Cistercian monks of Beaulieu. Described by William Morris as being "noble as a cathedral" and certainly in its cruciform shape and soaring interior, it is very cathedral like. The lines of ties, braces and struts in the roof space are a lesson in medieval architecture.
