Good news is that Zeiss ZM line lenses are not more expensive than SLR Line (ZF/ZE/ZA), but the cost of M9 body for me is too much too :) Other hand IQ of M9's images are slightly worse than of 5D Mk.II. Next year there is planed to release M10, probably with new Fuji organic sensor :) But price wouldn't be lowered if it doesn't rise up, but IQ should be slightly better :)
You are correct about the M9, but the body and a 21mm f/2.8 lens will cost you ~£7.7. For most people, it will never be a solution, particularly when you probably need two or three lenses if you plan to do more than just landscape work.
Please correct me Bajnexile, but isn't Leica M9 an answer to compact camera with descent 17-40mm lens? But it prices much :( I read at SonyAlphaRumorus that next year there is planned to release hybrid mount FF mirroless camera by Sony ;) Could it recall success of dual-mount Contax made by Zeiss ?
Ah! You have succombed to HDR. I have been saying for ages that it can add a new dimension to photography. The advantage of using Photomatix is that you can select the frames to Merge to HDR and you can decide on how much or how little to influence the "look" that you want. Highly recommend it. If you always shoot bracketed images then you have the option of running with a Single Frame or going down the Tone Mapping route. Looks like the Sony A65 will be "Camera of the Year". I plan to rent a Sony NEX7 for a day (identical Sensor) plus a decent lens. My Holy Grail is a compact camera with a high quality lens that will cover the Focal Lengths 17-40mm. Big heavy equipment is a pain when you are out all day. Ideally, I want the equivalent of the Canon EOS 5D Mk.II in a body the size of a NEX 7, The 5D Mk.II is the best camera I have ever owned followed by the 5D Mk.I.
These are done right in Camera - "HDR painting" with my new Sony A65 / CZ 16-80 kit - (I believe 3 shots combined - normal, +.7 and -.7 stops.) I am still experimenting with the settings. These are handheld with HDR set on high. I am going to try lower settings and a tripod when I get a chance. These seem to get many more comments on Facebook than regular shots!
