Since many years, I am using for portraits and even for landscape photography, an Carl Zeiss SOFTAR I and II soft filter. The sharpness remains, but the skin tone and structures, getting a special touch. Often tried to be copied, but never get reached. Even the Photoshop cannot do it like an CZ Softar! No. I is for most cases enough. The Softar filters are not cheap, but worth any penny!
