The Maxxum 7D does not see that lens as a 1.8, Minolta never made AF 1.8 lenses so the camera thinks its a 1.7, its just a software thing, otherwise that lens is perfectly compatible with the Maxxum 7D and all Minolta "A" mount cameras film or digital. I'm Glad you like the Shot!!
