This is from one shot and as far as I remember I used a 0.6 GND here. The shadows look so rich in detail because the valley is too wide there and you have a lot of bounce light going on. Besides that the sky still was quite bright and ambient light was still manageable.
I never noticed any huge problems with the dynamic range when I go down to ISO 50. Maybe I should investigate this a little more. The 5DMII still has a very good DR.
Did you use any filters to balance the brighter sky and the shadowed lower areas of the mountain? Or is this multiple images merged together?
I've seen some of your other work and I'm surprised at the amount of detail you are getting in the shadow areas, especially since you seem to like to use ISO 50 which has more limited dynamic range compared to ISO 100 OR 200.
