Thanks Mark! They're lovely people and I think they feel something for each other. They deny that of course.

That Makro-Planar is something else. So much nicer than the 1.4/50G AF-S I had briefly. Difficult to focus correctly though; dof at close range, even with f4 is very thin with a 50...

Yeah that glow really is something, and so is Okke. Some would say he has lost a few marbles along the way (he's about my age; 59), but he's a sweet guy, who always tells me he dreamt about me... in a very solemn voice as well.

Thanks Mark. I wasn't too happy with the b&w conversion. Too muddy, and increasing contrast resulted in this. Well..

Still, composition, expression, all as I intended.

Very good, and with manual focus, f2.0... Great!

But post a bigger file next time if you will.

Thanks Donuss; that's an idea I hadn't thought of yet. I'll give it a try, though I wanted to portray the sandy hazy atmosphere (it was quite warm as well), and the apparent lack of humans, first and foremost.

Cheers,

Ha ha! Gauging by the weight this should now be my #1 bike... That Fuji sounds good as well. I forgot the name of the pro team that rides them. Do you like it?

I'm watching the Tour now and have seen many favorites crash out, in terrain I know to be very difficult; up and down all day on narrow bumpy roads.

I like David Millar but he usually gives up on GC pretty soon. I think Klöden wil turn out to the dark horse in this race; Geraint Thomas seems to doing well too, after his teamleader Wiggins crashed out of the race. Noone mentions Klöden but he's still up there and he doesn't crash. He climbs well and he time trials well. We'll see...

Thanks Mark but no, it's a mix of Campag Chorus crankset, gears and brakelevers (all some 6 or 7 years old; comes from my "old" training bike), new record brakes, Neutron Ultra wheels...

I was in a quander whether this should become my #1 bike, as the components come form my #2 training bike. I ended up inbetween I guess.

Many thanks Ricardson. I was still learning (I'm a slow learner :-) ) about WB (and doF...) at that time, so this image, as much as I like it, could look different and maybe better. I'm satisfied with the capture of that moment though. And apparently LR3 doesn't allow to develop this (old) image all over...

Thanks! More coming... The 50 Makro-Planar lends itself very well to this type of shots.

Ha ha! No, this is Matthijs (59), biologist with rugged good looks, who just got his first motorcycle!

Very interesting. The composition, light/dark, the colours. The image draws you in and makes you look really hard. Great; exhibition stuff!

Something's wrong here. Focus on the wrong eye, and that eye being half out of the frame, subject looking out not in, b&w pp too muddy. Uncomfortable image.
