ZeissImages.com, the Online photo gallery of images captured with world class Zeiss optics is pleased to announce it's annual photography contest for 2012. Once again, the prize will be provided by Carl Zeiss. Thanks to Zeiss National Sales Manager Richard Schleuning the winner of this years contest will be given the option of selecting one of the following lenses as his or her prize.
- Distagon 2.8/25 ZF.2
- Distagon 2/28 ZE or ZF.2
- Distagon 2/35 ZE or ZF.2
- Planar 1.4/50 ZE or ZF.2
- Planar 1.4/85 ZE or ZF.2
- Makro-Planar 2/50 ZE or ZF.2
The theme this year will be “Light”. Creating a dramatic image which is enhanced by unique lighting which captures your attention is what we are looking for. Everyone has a vision of how light will best work for their photography, lets see what you have to show this year.
This contest is an opportunity for photographers to showcase their photographs taken with Zeiss lenses. There are no fees or exchange of services required to participate in the contest. This is simply a way for ZeissImages.com and Carl Zeiss to show appreciation for members using the site.
We ask that you follow these basic rules and guidelines:
The contest is open to ZeissImages.com members only.
All photographs submitted must have been captured with a Zeiss lens.
You agree that you are the sole owner of the photograph submitted and are obeying copyright protection laws.
You can submit up to 3 photographs.
You can update, delete or add new photographs as long as it is done before the deadline date
Where do I place my photos ? Simply upload them to the category "2012 Contest"
Deadline for submissions are Midnight GMT -8 Dec 1st, 2012
Judging
The judging for this contest will be different than in the past and from most other contests. The photographers photos will be judged by their peers which is why commenting is disabled on contest photos for now. When the submission deadline arrives, no more photos will be accepted into the "2012 Contest" category. At this time, commenting and voting will be allowed. In order to comment on the photos you have to be an active participant of ZeissImages.com and have images in your own ZeissImages.com gallery. Needless to say, I am sure all contestants will cast their first vote and comments on their own photos. I know I would do so if I was participating
Commenting and voting on contest photos will remain open for the month of December. Once commenting and voting closes, we will tally up the votes and positive comments for the photo. What is a positive comment ? If someone writes a comment, they will have the option to check the "I Like This Photo" checkbox. This would indicate it's a favorable comment by the user. After all is said and done, if we have a tie, we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
This may all change and fall back on a panel of judges. But for now, we really want this new concept to work.
Having said that, let other photographers know about the contest.

We have received a few questions regarding submissions and judging. Please read below for some clarification.
File Size ...
File size of uploaded images are limited to 5MB in size.
File format ...
File format must be jpg/jpeg
Judging ...
Last time we had a panel of judges from different parts of the world with various backgrounds in photography selecting the winners. This time, we are attempting a new approach by letting the peers select the winner. However, this method does add a little bit of complexity and we are making an effort to address foreseeable concerns. If it becomes too much of an issue using the "peers" method, we may fall back on to a panel of judges to select the winning photo.
Lens ...
Camera brand does not matter as long as the lens used was a Zeiss.
latest scoring will be visible here http://zeissimages.com/contestranking.php?page=1&closed=12/1/2012&catid=32&votingclosed=1/1/2013 -- http://torralba.zeissimages.com |
