"I purchased a B&W brand 49mm filter for the lens but once you put the filter on, the Lens Hood will not fit! Any suggestions."
That's a bummer! I have had a similar experience with the B+W 77mm MRC Slim UV-Haze filter on a Canon Zoom where the Canon lens cap cannot be fitted. B+W provided a really crappy rubber lens cap which continously falls off in the camera bag and when you walk with the camera over your shoulder. I have switched to the Hoya HD Filter Range, which is their most expensive filter range. They fit perfectly and accept manufacturers lens caps and Lens Shades. Excellent product with ultra low profile so no visible Vignetting even with a 17mm Focal Lenght on a FF camera. I have looked very carefully and THERE IS NO IMPACT ON IQ. If you bought the B+W Filter from a shop (or even Amazon), send it back and ask for a refund. It is not Fit for Purpose. No questions will be asked (at least not in the UK and Europe). I just received my Sony Zeiss 24mm f1.8 ZA lens. Still waiting on the Sony NEX7 body. I purchased a B&W brand 49mm filter for the lens but once you put the filter on, the Lens Hood will not fit! Any suggestions. I would like a 49mm Zeiss UV but don't see it listed on the Zeiss website.
